Guitar Hero: Aerosmith is the first game built around the legendary music of "America's Greatest Rock ‘N Roll Band": Steven Tyler, Joe Perry, Brad Whitford, Tom Hamilton and Joey Kramer. This latest Guitar Hero installment puts players in the shoes of Perry (guitar), Whitford (guitar) and Hamilton (bass), as they rock out alongside frontman Tyler and drummer Kramer. Gamers experience Aerosmith’s Grammy winning career, from their first gig to becoming rock royalty, in a way that no other entertainment vehicle offers. As fans progress through their careers in the game, they can rock out to scores of Aerosmith’s greatest hits, as well as songs from celebrated artists that the band has either performed with or has been inspired by in some way. Venues from historical moments during the band's illustrious career offer the experience of "sweet emotion" and further capture the essence of the band's rise to fame. [Activision]

But ultimately how much you personally enjoy Guitar Hero: Aerosmith depends on how much you like the band. If you love Aerosmith, Guitar Hero: Aerosmith is easily the best Guitar Hero yet.

It’s a shame that only a few real hits have found their way into the game.

Neversoft and RedOctane played it safe by changing little to nothing in the Guitar Hero franchise with Guitar Hero: Aerosmith.

The latest Guitar Hero is an Aerosmith fan's dream come true, but the game's narrow focus and lack of content will prove unappealing to many others.

This Is an offering to a niche and one that doesn't really have the greatest appeal to people outside that niche.

Game Chronicles
I am by no means the ideal Guitar Hero player so I enjoyed the less rigorous songs that this version offers thanks to Joe Perry’s repetitive riffs.

Worse still, this is the only version of Guitar Hero: Aerosmith that lacks online play.

The game isn't very challenging or long, so you can just rent it. But whatever you do, get your hands on it and start strumming!

It's not that the game has the wrong songs, but that it has so few of them. For $50, you can't help but feel a little cheated when all you get is Guitar Hero III with a light coat of paint and barely half the songs.

It's fun and bright, easy to pick up and play and has some moments of real humour in it. At the same time it's tacky and hackneyed, annoying to anyone not involved and lacks any real backbone of gameplay or narrative to support its weight.

If you're a Guitar Hero-loving Aerosmith fan then go and get it already - add a couple more points to the final score! For everybody else, it could be one to miss; after all, Guitar Hero World Tour (and the DS' On Tour) isn't too far away.

Mike G. gave it a4:
I generally like all of the other gh games but this one is the worst. when i pick a player thats who i wanna use mainly because of the color of the track the notes come down, forcing me to use perrys blue background makes it hard for me to pick out the blue notes. and the song selection sucks. i was hoping for a few less aerosmith songs and more cover bands (which were lame) but we get a lot of songs, many i never wanna play again. in general a lot of aerosmiths songs seem like they were {originally} written just to fill record/cd space and go on forever with very little change.

Nick V. gave it a2:
Very poor song selection. The sound seems off key on a lot of songs(Live Versions). Non Aerosmith songs are not well known and not fun to listen to.
