The game is just as much fun as the original, and the multiplayer pushes it even past that with appeal.

Hardcore Gamer Magazine
Although the game is straight out of Japan (and full of Japanese), it's perfectly easy to understand regardless of age or nationality. [JPN Import; Vol 3, Issue 2, p.72]

Ouendan 2 is a very fitting sequel to the original. The improvements that have been carried over from Elite Beat Agents, the new songs and situations are as entertaining as ever and the game is just as easy to understand for foreigners.

There aren't any radical changes, just a bigger, nicer version with 19 new songs. Owning at least one of the Ouendan games can't be recommended enough. [JPN Import]

Even without an English language option and a couple of questionable songs, Ouendan 2 is a must buy. Fans of the original game or Elite Beat Agents shouldn't hesitate to invest in this latest music/rhythm masterpiece. [JPN Import]

Ouendan 2 may not bring anything new to the existing formula, but for those who played both EBA and the original Ouendan and are still asking for seconds, Ouendan 2 will deliver. [JPN Import]

A great sequel to an amazing game. It's more of the same, but everything is brought to the next level, and it ends up every bit as enjoyable. [JPN Import]

Scenario wise, it’s all presented with the good old Manga panels and some simple animation. It’s good to see the characters back from the prequel such as Hanada who was last struggling with his studies. [JPN Import]

A game that equals the brilliance that was the first Ouendan, however, it is not. [JPN Import; July 2007, p.79]

Although not quite as groundbreaking as its predecessor, Ouendan 2 is nevertheless a fine slice of deliciously off-the-wall J-Pop entertainment. [JPN Import]

While any further games might test the formula’s durability, the level of story creativity and engine polish here puts the average identikit sequel to shame. [July 2007, p.108]

iNiS once again prove that the simplest concept can provide the most thrilling and addictive gameplay. While familiarity means it doesn’t quite recreate the magic of the first game, it’s every bit as fun to play, and players new to the series will get one of the most enjoyable gaming experiences of the year. You don't have to have necessarily liked or played OTO or EBA, or even like music-rhythm games in general, to find that Osu! Takatae! Ouendan 2 as a masterpiece; you just need to have a soul and an ounce of musical beat in your body, because everything else will fall into place instantly, subconsciously, and fantastically. Ouendan 2 is every bit as quirky, funny and gloriously mental as its expansive name would suggest. We stand by our caveat over the music selection; we don't think you'll enjoy these tracks as much as the offerings of the original Ouendan. However, we're not sure that should put you off enjoying an otherwise superb sequel to one of the DS' most enjoyable gems. [JPN Import]

One thing that gives Ouendan 2 a clear edge over its predecessor is that it incorporates many of the improvements added to Elite Beat Agents.

R T gave it a9:
Definitely a very worthy sequel. Had just as much fun playing it as original. The songs are actually pretty catchy. I don't think it's more difficult than the first Ouendan though. I managed to beat the last song on insane difficulty after only about 20 tries or so. Ready Steady Go took me several weeks to finally get right. I would go as far as say that Jumping Jack Flash from EBA was tougher that the last song in Ouendan 2, but some may disagree.

[Anonymous] gave it a9:
Much harder than previous titles! Definitely a must-buy if you're a fan.. if you're not a fan yet, try the first 2 first. The songs aren't quite as catchy/fun as Oeundan 1, but the quantity + extra features definitely make up for it! I can't put this game down... the Ouendan series is a hit!

[Anonymous] gave it a10:
Very catchy tunes. I cannot stand replaying the songs in Elite Beat Agents again and again because the songs are quite dull. But with this game, I can keep playing the levels (due to failure, etc.) because the songs are really nice.
